Eureka’s patented Stepless Micrometric Regulation System enables the barista to make the minutest adjustments to grind size. Eureka Mignon Specialita espresso grinder is exceptionally quiet thanks to the inclusion of Eureka’s “Silent Technology. This combines the patented Eureka ACE system, which reduces static, and the newly redesigned larger exit chute. That said, shifting back and forth between the grind settings isn’t overly convenient with the stepless adjustment, so I’d recommend it as a dedicated espresso grinder. This is a unique grind adjustment system in that it's the lower burrs that are adjusted, which allows for maintenance without losing grind settings.

The Specialita might just be the perfect combination of form, function, and quality you've been seeking for your home espresso setup. In terms of looks, I think the Mignon looks cool, it's stainless steel body gives it a stylish look, it is clearly a grinder, but it's not a big menacing looking commercial grinder, and you can get the various Mignon models in quite a range of different colours and finishes. You Barista specialises in coffee brewing equipment for baristas, home enthusiasts and coffee addicts. Design and Functionality: we believe that the Mignon more than any other coffee grinder manages to successfully mix a clean and compact design without sacrificing the many incredible innovations fitted in Eureka’s professional coffee grinders. I've used the Eureka Atom 65 too, and that was a struggle to fit under the cupboards, which meant having to use the grinder quite a distance from the espresso machine.Designed with the speciality coffee market in mind, the Mignon Specialita boasts of a small footprint, compact size and is offered in 8 vivid colours. Faster grinding also means less time to generate heat, so you’ll get better flavour from your ground coffee. Its specs – the 55 mm flat steel burr set, stepless grind adjustment, and 350 Watt motor – are as good as any, and its engineering and build quality are better than most. The Specialita is not designed to be a single-dose grinder, and I won’t claim that it is one, but it is better than most, thanks to its low grind retention. With Italian styling, near-silent grinding, and stellar durability, the Eureka Mignon Specialita has quickly become one of our favorite flat burr espresso grinders.

The system works very well, especially for making fine adjustments that take your espresso from 95% perfect to perfect. The silenzio has 50mm burrs, but these are the standard Eureka hardened steel burrs made with espresso in mind.

I've used the Mignon, in particular the Eureka Mignon Specialita, which I used along with the ACS Minima I reviewed, and as I'll share with you a bit later on in this review post, I was very impressed. However, with a largely plastic construction and ceramic burrs, it is unlikely to last as long as the Specialita. Since my wife was also going to use the grinder (who is not a coffee geek), I wanted a grinder that allowed her to just press a button and to get more or less the correct dose without needing to weigh the coffee every time.
