It’s all very romantic, and the authors description of the process of loving someone really did something for me.

We do our best to support a wide variety of browsers and devices, but BookBub works best in a modern browser. The angel saw how the Devil would sing about them, so said angel repeatedly sang about nettle and thistles until the Devil slipped up and did the same.

I was already crying because of the gravestone and that fucking sentence fucked my life, my emotions and the last drop of water my body had to offer. Out of rage (and maybe a little embarrassment) the Devil kicked the bush, spit on it, maybe urinated on it, and cursed the fruit to be inedible if eaten after that day, which was September 29th, or Michaelmas. Whether they sprang from the Devil’s own hoof-prints or he landed ignominiously in them on his fall from Heaven, each of the plants here today has a hellish connection, making them fun (or dangerous) additions to a poison or Goth garden! The writing was also beautiful and full of cultural references that added to the storytelling, which seemed to tell more stories than one.

The number 7 in numerology is a spiritual number representing the seeking of truth, knowledge and wisdom of who you really are – attributes that this flower essence offers in retrieving the use of your intuitive guidance. The love triangle is the only one I have ever actually liked, and the thoughtfulness that went into describing poverty is so good. Parents used to tell their children that if they picked the fruit of the Deadly Nightshade that they would meet the Devil face to face. it’s so deeply emotional , passionate and sensual you have to hold your breath in places as you fall in love with him yourself .Flowers for the Devil" is a dark Victorian romance with tormented villain/ strong heroine/ forbidden love/ secret identity/ diverse characters tropes. I kept looking forward to his chapters and more reveals about who he was before all of this and what lead him to deciding to become Harlan. There is just so little interaction between the main characters that you dont believe their love story at all. I was entranced by the eloquent storytelling and writing as it kept me wholly captivated from the first page until the end. This book is a little darker than the other books I've read from him but he so skillfully weaves romance, history, and social commentary together.
