He goes on a hunt to try and find some glue to stick them back together but then realises that you cant find glue for the heart.

I think this book can help bring comfort to children going through this and lets students who haven't gone through this to sympathize with their classmates more. Mum and Dad Glue” is an exceptionally well written and beautifully illustrated picture book by the absolutely fantastic Kes Gray.

I really enjoyed this book as it follows the tale of a little boy who’s parents have/ are in the process of getting a divorce. The child's concept of sticking his parents back together with glue is so down to earth and truly places the reader into the mindset of a young person desperate for his mum and dad to stay together. This message is conveyed in a meaningful way whilst being light hearted in the storyline approaching a difficult topic in a sensitive way. Even if a child has been raised by a single parent, their parents split before they were born for example, they could still benefit from a book like this.

Told from the perspective of the boy allows the reader to step into his shoes and experience the emotions he is feeling and empathise with him. This book addresses many feelings and questions children may have related to such controversial themes. The format of this book is: softback cover with matt finish, tiresias font of 75pt, and Grade 1 Braille. This rhyming story is brilliantly told with a powerful message that even though his parents may be broken, their love for him is not. This story is told in such a kind and soft way that this may allow children to feel comfortable to talk about the subject. Gray said himself that he was very cautious, and rather uncertain that he would be able to convey such a powerful subject matter accurately, and appropriately to his audience. I am glad that the parents talked to him, that the parents made time to make sure he was fine, and that they explained everything to him. A powerful poem which follows a boy who’s parents are getting divorced and feels like he is to blame and struggling to come to terms with it.
